Seiko 7009A Mainsping Winder Size

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I am trying to repair a Seiko 7009A movement, what is the correct size Mainspring winder needed for this size watch movement.

I have one of the Chinese Winding kits bot nothing fits this spring, so was going to get the proper size Bergeon winder as I have quite a few of this movement to work on in the coming months.

Thanks for any input on this

Thanks for the quick reply, will keep an eye out for a Number 6

On a good note and down to luck more than anything else I managed to get the Chinese 8200 one to wind the spring and successfully load it into the barrel, more luck than judgment I am sure, but at least its all back together and working.

Try to mix and match the winders with the winder insert. I had some success with this for the Chinese winders with 7009 mainsprings.  I finally gave up (as the Chinesium ones started wearing) and bought bergeon ones. The bergeon ones are quite a bit better for seiko. If you can get a new mainspring I would go that way.

Hey out of curiosity did you ever pick up a number 6 or bergeon winders for this caliber?
I'm about to order my first sizes for mainspring winders and i'm having trouble figuring out for sure whether the same combo of bergeon winder/barrel works for 7s26 and 700X.

These things are expensive so i want to make sure i get what i need and i'm just finding a lot of conflicting information.

    • 1947 NOS Ambassador 'C'. Actually, the case came without the movement so the movement isn't NOS, but she sure is pretty.
    • Hi attached is the AS 20XX. Service sheet although there is no 2063 mentioned it may be of some use to you AS_AS 2060,1,2,6,4,6.pdf
    • one of the problems we have is visible versus invisible. For instance millennium disulfide another high pressure lubricant black in color. I was told by somebody worked for the Boeing company that they had a piston like device somewhere that has eight call it around it to grab it so it has to slide and in the collet has to grab. But if somebody puts that type of dry grease on where grease with that in it it embeds itself basically in the metal and they have to throw the whole part away they get use it all. So I suspect on all the dry powdery lubricants that they will go into all the basically microscopic cracks and crannies of the metaland that's where it is visually at least until you scrub it off your visually going to see it which is good because you want your lubrication the stay word is. But I'm sure it doesn't last forever on the metal it's just a really nice lubrication
    • Thanks for the info. I can't seem to find tech sheets for those either.  I'll muddle my way though 🙂
