Hi,

I've never successfully disassembled and reassembled a movement before!

So I removed the hands from a watch that I was working on before.  After fitting back the dial, plastic spacer, etc, I discovered that the second hand couldn't be attached to the second hand gear shaft (sorry, I don't know what the correct name is).  It kept falling off.

On close inspection, I realised that when I removed the hands, I accidentally sheared off the "tube" that holds the second hand onto the second hand gear shaft.  Now there's a remnant stuck onto the second hand gear shaft.

Short of dismantling the movement (I probably can't put it back together), is there any tool/technique to pull out the stuck tube?  For now, the watch shows only the minutes and hours ?

thx!

For a sure grip you would need to pull from below the tube, but that is not accessible. Removing plate, hour wheel and cannon pinion only may or may not help. You can try with sturdy tweezers however.

It sounds to me as if you have pulled the hand off but the tube is still on the pivot. You will need to remove the hands and dial. Use some tool to get below the tube and pull. this should do it. It's a pair of hairspring cutting tweezers with these you can get underneath the tube and pull upwards make sure you pull up straight.
