Hi All,

I’m not a watchmaker and I am also a new member here, so I apologize if this question is obvious or has been asked many times in the past. My search did not bare any results.

What I am wondering is... what is involved in bringing the hands to the movement side of a 6498? Watches such as Florent LeComte’s new release has got me wondering what modifications are made to bring a watch such as this to life.

Thanks in advance??

Brandon

Hi Brandon ,Welcome to the forum  this article might peak your interest.https://www.great-british-watch.co.uk/designing-and-making-a-british-watch/ This article a watchmaker takes an ETA 6498 and adds a complication with 2 more hands to it . It takes a lot of skills and knowledge.I think you will get the drift .

Great article.  That dude is impressive.  I also read his description of the Spitfire Watch.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but the LeComte hands are on the normal side of the movement, but the balance wheel has been exposed on the dial side by having a cutaway in the main plate and dial. I think that's a balance wheel on the dial side, it looks very unusual.

Correct, that's called open heart style, also cheaply available from Chinese sellers.

Hi KOwatch,

After thinking about it further I’m a little embarrassed to have not come to this conclusion myself. I forgot that while you can’t see it from the dial side, Incabloc protection exists on both sides of the balance wheel. I think this is what had me believing somehow things needed to be reversed. Thank you for your answer.
