HSL, Many thanks for your quick response. As the clickspring is missing my next challenge is to source or fabricate a clickspring. I'm not quite sure what general shape/type the clickspring should be.

Further disassembly revealed that the click spring is a Shepherds Hook shape, which is housed under the ratchet wheel. I managed to fashion a new spring out of a small piece of guitar string. Thanks to HSL and watchweasol for their advice, much appreciated.
