So I get a Universal 1-42 barrel with mainspring. When I try to wind up the mainspring, it slip and rotate inside the barrel. Looks like the barrel wall did not secure the MS. What measure could be done to fix this?

Thank you!

Hi  It may be the wring spring fitted  could be a dodgy barrel  or the spring could be broken ,   open up the barrel have a look.   Is this watch an automatic or manual wind.?

OK I check that it's a combination of both:(

Stupid question but have you got it the right way round? I’ve done that loads of times... if it’s wrong way up it will keep slipping.

I thought this could actually hold that mainspring from slipping inside the barrel. But guess I'm wrong.

That's what's left of the broken tongue end. You will need a new spring, unless you are equipped to rivet a new piece on (or spot weld).

Yeah It's a learning piece now. I try to weld it but guess I use the wrong material.

Yeah I’d just get a new one there not too expensive on cousins, I should have been more specific when I said wrong way round, if you instal the mainspring upside down the tongue will never engage with the grove on the barrel. :)
