Recommended Posts

Watch was working yesterday, wound this morning a heard the main spring let go.
I have watch apart and mainspring compartment disassembled. See pictures.

if I do find mainspring, do I definitely need the tool to get it back inside the compartment?

Difficult to find that information on those, You will likely have to pull the spring and try to measure its length, width, thickness and the type of ends. I just sourced one for an English lever from Cousins in the UK. Everything was correct except the specific type of end. The one I got had to be slightly modified to work, but it is working perfectly. I recommend using a sewing tape to measure. I'm including a picture of the major types of ends for your reference.

to use this chart, measure in metric. The "Strength" measurement is the thickness of the spring. When you order, the dimensions will be listed as the Dennison in the chart below. Good luck.

BTW, please take a few moments to introduce yourself HERE, It's a courtesy we ask of everyone, thank you.
