Only have a closeup of mine.

The watch sits upright. You can use foam to wedge it so it stays put smack in the centre of each ring.

Took 4 days to fully charge mine.

Edit.

Its the base from this set.

Thank you ro63rto! I'll check those out on ebay, I believe it is what I was looking for!

One thing to point out though.

I have not opened it up to bypass the timer feature so every few hours i have to press the reset (red led) to resume charging. One day I'll get round to it.

Excellent ro63rto! Got it. I'm on the look out for a bargain price on that one already!

Got mine for £5 plus £2 delivery for base only. Plenty out there a few months back.

Are those obsolete now, or do they still make them?

Long gone AFAIK.

When they do turn up you have to sell a watch to get the funds to buy it.

This is a useful made for the job alternative.

I've only had one kinetic watch (a Seiko Arctura chrono), and had no trouble in keeping it running when it was off the wrist. When it did run down, it took a few hours to get it back to an even tick - rather than the 2-second jump that the second hand makes when it's underpowered - but apart from that it ran more or less continuously on a day's worth of normal wrist time..

It always seemed odd to me to save battery costs by buying a kinetic - and then use an electrically powered winder to keep it going! In the end I sold it as the chrono function was faulty, and got a solar powered Seiko instead. I much prefer solar power.

I got mine from A.G.Thomas some time ago, but their website is such a mish mash, it would probably pay to phone them.

I don't think Seiko have ever officially sold them, I just think that occasionally the suppliers acquired them.

I have seen them in esslinger and ofrei, maybe even in borel but the price....the quote in my first post is from esslinger! Too rich for me and I don't even have one kinetic yet....although some will be refurbished soon. :)
