Francisdownunder Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 Hello i am trying for the love of God to repair a 6119c, I bought another movement for spares, I have watched a number of videos on some one else dismantling and reassembling the same movements. I used an ultrasonic like i do with any other movement and cleaned them both up, I put it back together and then the day wheel disc and the date dial, once i put the dial on, they seem to sit 1/2 off each other. any ideas or feed back would be good.
aac58 Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 Be sure that the date jumper sits between the date wheel teeth and the date wheel is flat before installing the date guard. You can check if it is with the guard installed. Also be sure that the day wheel spring (that is part of the date guard) is also between the teeth of the star behind the day wheel inspecting through the visors on the day wheel. Are you using the original day wheel for your watch? These wheels are different depending on the possition of the crown, you cannot use a day wheel made for a 3 o'clock crown watch on a watch with the crown at 4 o'clock, because the text won't align with the day window on the dial. 1
Francisdownunder Posted August 20, 2019 Author Posted August 20, 2019 Thank you aac58, I was thinking if the spare 6119 was a 3 o'clock set or 4, once again I will go through the steps and have a look at the date wheel. thanks for your input. I was told that the 3 o'clock set is not as common as the 4 o'clock set. i checked the dial guard to ensure they were the same.
Francisdownunder Posted August 22, 2019 Author Posted August 22, 2019 thank you for the advice, i changed over the date and then noticed that the screws were not the right ones, so replaced them and now all is good and going and keeping good time. 2 1
Francisdownunder Posted August 25, 2019 Author Posted August 25, 2019 I now have a Seiko Sportmatic Seahorse that I want to repair but can not seem to find any manuals on the 2451 movement. the site I go-to for most of all doesn't have the movement listed, anyone else know of other sites that may have something? thanks Francis

Part list found via Google attached. When service sheet isn't available just proceed as with a similar mov't, take plenty pics, separate different screws and it won't be a big deal as long one know why he's doing. 2451,6601A.pdf Edited August 25, 2019 by jdm 1
aac58 Posted August 25, 2019 Posted August 25, 2019 (edited) Here you have a walkthrough of a 2451 (Seiko Silverwave diver from 1964) and a 6601 (1964 and all that: Part II) which I think it's about the same thing according to the part list. Maybe they are not very detailed in every step, but may help you. https://adventuresinamateurwatchfettling.com/category/seiko/6601/ Edited August 25, 2019 by aac58 1
Francisdownunder Posted August 25, 2019 Author Posted August 25, 2019 JDM and AAC58 thank you so very much. will post some pics as i progress with the 2451.
Francisdownunder Posted August 25, 2019 Author Posted August 25, 2019 I found the service manual under 6601, being new to wristwatches it is a new learning curve for me, 6601, 245 and 2451.
