Hello, the battery of my Seiko 8F56 was replaced and the second hand is moving in 4 seconds steps. Apparently the watch repair man could not set the calendar. I cannot open the cover since I don’t have the required tools. Is there a way to get the watch out of this 4 second mode without opening the cover? I don’t want to set the calendar but just see the second hand move once a second. Thanks in advance.

When the second hands moves like that it means battery low, so either has not been replaced or something is wrong.

Nothing can be done about it without opening the watch. At the minimum AC reset should be tried.
You can buy a normal case opener for less than $10.

Have a great video here . 8F32 but it's the same . Think you should visit a watchmaker and he could help you. Shouldn't cost much  more then a caseback opener.

Normally low battery, also wrong battery.

I pull the stem in set position to get the movement to stop. Just in case the wrong battery/ voltage is fitted.
