Looking for mineral glass to Fortis Flieger

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I've recently purchased a Fortis flieger 595.x.x and I'm looking for a new mineral glass. I've messaured the size or the old glass and it is around 36.43 mm diameter and 1.7 mm thick.

Where can I find a glass with this size for a good Price?

Best regards

Markus

You have posted about this already and got a good answer.

Try any watch suppliers in your country. If you go to resources at the top of the page, you will find a list of suppliers for your country.

Hi!

I never got any recommendations on where to find it except via Fortis. They denied sending me a glass since they only provide spare parts to professional watch makers.

I forgot that I posted about this before so my bad, however the old Post was more related on how to messaure the size of the glass rather than where to find a brand new.

OK, the good answer was the recommendation to watch Mark Lovick video to learn how to replace a crystal, you will of course need a crystal press, otherwise bring it to a watch shop where they replace batteries, some are pretty good. And you wrote yourself about Cousins UK, they have excellent assortment prices and service.

I thought this was a forum where we try to fix and service watches by ourselves. This is my intention as well.

I have already bought a watch press and were able to remove the scratched crystal and found out that previous dimensions didn't match with mine.

Regarding Cousins UK I've heard great stuff about them as well. However, the size that I needed could not be found on their site. It seems like it's really hard to find specific sizes made for certain brands like Fortis.

I will most likely buy an original glass instead to be certain that it will fit my watch.

Thanks for your help!

Cousins UK has 2mm x 36.4 sapphire or 1.8mm mineral. Either are a good replacement. Flat round is the easiest type, even found on Ebay, AliX, etc.

I ended up buying the original glass and replace it myself. Got it for an OK price as well so all good now :)
