  1. I’ve just bought myself this Unimat 3 lathe with loads of add-ons including milling attachment est to have cost around £2000 the seller was asking £890 I made an offer of £750 which the seller has excepted. Many parts have not been out of there boxes and never used. I have been thinking over the past few days about starting some clock repairs as a hobby. My eyesight is not that good but I have been tinkering around with a few old movements and getting the feel of things and I am enjoying myself. When it arrives, I will take better pictures and I will be able to explain about all the extras.

  3. Can't really understand the comment (Not stainless steel-i mean actual steel) both are composites of Iron. Steel is an alloy = Iron with the introduction of 15% carbon " Though the carbon content can be increased to produce a very hard steel indeed. Stainless steel is the same alloy but with the addition of Chromium and nickel. I've buffed out scratches on stainless using diamond paste ? Also I believe it's suitable on soft metals such as gold. Haven't heard of it being used on acrylic (Normally used for buffing glass) But after reading this thread will give it a go when the opportunity arises Sent from my SM-T585 using Tapatalk

  4. If you're nervous about fitting it, do it inside a clear plastic bag. At least then you can contain the spring if it pops out. I often use a plastic bag when fitting a retaining clip to a chrono pusher. They are really tiny!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
