So, all in all I learned nothing about this watch☹️

But you learned about watch owners...

They are a strange bunch indeed. The other day I sold a brand new watch to a guy, he examined it carefully and thought that the crystal was dirty (it wasn't), so he started rubbing it with a finger and blowing on it. I went away for a moment and when I came back he was still going at it. I guess that will be a very loved watch, Lol.

Was he wearing glasses? Maybe his lenses were dirty :)

Ok. So i got to work and the fairies had left a bottle of good red wine on my desk. Turns out my colleague was very happy. .... but the saga continues. I asked if I could take it home and exchange the balance and cock with that from a known good as2063 I have recently serviced. Bingo! Beat sounded 10 times better and the rate was better too. So the issue is with his balance/cock assembly. Will keep you all updated on what i find.

Problem solved. I removed and cleaned the hairspring in naphtha for 3minutes gently agitating the coils by moving the stub about with tweezers. Blot dried on watch tissue. Checked and set beat by ensuring the roller was as close to mid banking as possible when at rest. Slightly tweaked the stud end of the hair spring to ensure the coils were nice and concentric when the stud was assembled in the cock. Reassembled watch taking time not to make stupid mistakes. And bingo, with a very small adjustment to the regulator (advance) the watch is running as good as expected. I’ll monitor accuracy over 24 hours and make final regulations. Time to go to bed! Thanks for all your suggestions and help. I really must get a timegrapher [emoji6]

Good work. It's always worth looking at the hairpsing under high magnification and good light when it is beating fast.
