Trip To Glasgow

Recommended Posts

My sons birthday next week - he will be 18.

Anyway - for his pressy he wants to go to Glasgow Comicon this weekend and I am taking him, his brother and his friend. Not sure I am really into Comicon though (maybe I will go in on the Sunday) so Saturday is going to be a day of exploring Glasgow - first time I have been since I was two years old :)

Should be fun!

Is Comicon the equivalent of SuperCon?

If so, my kids are into that too! Japanese "manga" characters, Star Trek, Dr. Who, X-men, etc...I believe the list is quite long! I tried to get my mother to knitt one of those Dr. Who scarves (#4 Doctor to be presice) but it was too much work for a 94 year old lady! THEY will have a good time!!!

Enjoy Glasgow. I lived  there from 1946 to 1951 - and went back for a visit in 2001. It was a dirty, smoky city after the war, but has been turned around in the intervening 50 years - a great place, with incredibly friendly people.

I'll second all the positive Glasgow comments. I was there in 2010 and had a great time. Lots of very friendly people, good pubs and beers. The visit of the town hall is very good. I have to say that getting used to the accent took way more effort than expected, and some of the jokes by the tour guide were lost on me, but it was nice. Bring a good pair of shoes, the city is very walkable !

The whole harbor area is a very nice mix of old and modern architecture, a recommended detour if you happen to be close-by.

Have fun !

I looked at the Comicon website and I have to admit - it is not really my thing. I'm going to leave the kids there and just go into town and have a great day walking around.

However, they have convinced me to go into Comicon on Sunday :(

Time to stock up on Kindle books me thinks!!
