Hi all. I have wanted a jump watch for ages and picked this up cheap . It won’t run, I think it’s dirty which I can sort , but also I can’t see the ratchet for the main spring . It has failed or is missing , any ideas 961aba1e0fb08f6cd7c1cdf224c7ac83.jpg

Looks like it's missing, or is broken...Baumgartner 582. I might have one in spare parts...but show a pic if its broken and the piece is under the wheel anyway.

Its missing then. The click spring sits underneath the ratchet gear and you would see it in this place:

Congratulations. Step one has been successfully completed. Now you know what you need to replace, but that doesn't mean everything else is OK, but let's hope so. I'll look to see if I have a click spring for the 582.

This one is broken. I found a picture of another one that is also bent but still complete:

The click spring holds the  ratchet wheel that keeps the arbor and mainspring from uncoiling after you've put power into the mainspring...i.e winding the watch.

Most watches have a 'click' that locks the ratchet wheel from allowing the mainspring to unwind between winds and in general running, and a separate component, a  spring that pushes it into place to do so, this is a click and spring in one component.

Yes thanks for pointing out that fact. This is a click and spring in one.

    • I am sure you agree that,    " physical reality is actually made up of structured information "  which defines the states energy may  realize in prescribed  states.      Universe is committing suicide then most of its functions stops, but what we know as  gravitation remains, thus ( as he concludes)  gravitation proves of no essence  for actualization  previous functions universe used to work according to.   No doubt mathamtic systems man has deviced  is basic and not neccessarilty correct . But if universe is informational,  its also computational.   Then we have something thats has no essence and computation systems indicates it as virtual.
    • Oh that is lovely, thank you. I also just cracked the crystal and lost one of the shock absorbers, so its gone in the separate baggy of 'maybe-one-day' 😄 I did learn the valuable lesson of not disassembling the shock absorbers. My next one is a Zaria 1509B. I think this one I'll take a bit more time with cause I'll need to source a couple of bits. It's also scary teeny.
    • More data on the oscillation tests: Vertical: 15-20 seconds…Abysmal Dial up: 1 min 15-30 seconds Any thoughts @nevenbekriev @JohnR725? My next thought is to oil the balance jewels to see if that helps. It’s certainly one major thing left that I haven’t done.
    • Hi. Once the pins have been withdrawn the brace let comes apart, never had a problem with these.
