Hi,

I have received a watch that has at some point gone into a swimming pool with the crown unscrewed. The movement has been cleaned up and it working fine but there is a stain on the glass which, I presume, is related to to the chemicals in the swimming pool water. Does anyone have any ideas about how to get this stain off?

Kind regards,

Matt

Pictures would help, it would depend on what the crystal is made of is it actually glass or acrylic ? I assume the stain is on the inner surface of the watch crystal other than polishing if the staining has only affected the surface with a fine abrasive paste, replacement may be the only option.

I would have thought if someone had  the movement cleaned they would have had the crystal dealt with at the same time.

Have you tried anything to clean it off ? As said, a picture would help.

Normally stains go away pretty easily. Rubbing alcohol can work as well, so can paint thinner.

Is it actual glass or acrylic crystal ?

Thank you all for your advice, I used Cerium Oxide in the end and found that it worked very well.

Kind regards,
