Fake Petite Sonnerie

This is a Ebay listing for a Petite Sonnerie clock the listing gives mixed messages in that it describes the clock as French 19th century and then says "This is Not an Antique clock"

It certainly isnt antique there have been quite a number of these going through the salesrooms at the moment they are Chinese in origin and of poor quality one has to only view the escapement to determine that. They all have the same maker on the dial Camerden and Forster who where a legitimate buisness in New York so the name has been hijacked by the fakers these fetch between £300-£750 at auctions bought by people who should know better.

The screw heads are modern, just look at the clicks and click springs very poor. The gong just look at the horrid finish and the poor brass like screws holding it.

After emailing the seller they have removed the item.

They emailed back to say they would amend the listing.

The seller did relist this with a altered description clearly stating the clock to be a reproduction. I am quite staggered to see this poor piece of rubbish has fetched £752.00 nearly twice what he originally listed it for.

Oh well some you win some you lose. I can tell you the looser is the buyer because when it is time to have it overhauled they might just find out they have wasted their money on a pile of junk.
