Citizen watch band

Recommended Posts

I feel like I have painted myself in a corner with this one...

Ok, I will try to make this story short.

I bought a CA4148 Citizen Eco Drive a short time ago in a bargain store (sometimes there actually are bargains in bargain stores), I really wanted a solar watch.

This one to be more specific: http://webdev.citizenwatch.com/en-ca/watches/watch-detail/?model=CA4148-00L

It came without a box, papers etc... no worries, it has a Eco-Drive B620 movement, I know the type and where to get a capacitor.

So far the watch is great, no issues.

The only concern I have is the watch band, it is super comfortable but as with all leather watch bands, they go.

I checked online and I did find a replacement watch band but then I would be getting the same durability.

So I was looking for a black metal band, a 26mm band wherein the problem...

There's a 16mm notch for the spring bar...sigh...:pulling-hair-out:

I was thinking of getting one of these bands and taking out the top links which would leave the middle link exposed

which would fit in the 16 mm area as in the pic below.

Anyone ever try this type of surgery ?

jeez I can feel the paint drying, that's a bit of a quandary. I have a Citizen ecodrive that I love,  I don't wear it enough to warrant a change in bracelet or strap. No, I have never attempted this type of adaptation. If the space you have indicated between lugs is the same or within a mm or less, it might be worth the effort. A lot depends on what you are willing to live with, I doubt anyone without a keen eye would notice the mod, unless it's real obvious. JMHO, hope that helps.

You could very well use a bracelet if only the middle part is 16 mm . Which seldom are? Usually around 9-10 mm. Just by looking at it i can say that. If it's 20 mm and there is 5 mm on each side the middle will be 10 mm?

You could notch a ordinary leather strap also. By the look of the strap it looks like it 's around 24-26 mm width.

As Roger says, it might not be wide enough. Another concern is the pin clearance to be able to fit it. I think you will need to drill through the slugs...unless they are already drilled. Then it shouldn't be any problem...hopefully.

Have you tried ebay? Some bands (used) may have the end link you are looking for....it might be easier that way.
