When you push in a friction jewel, does it snap into place. Is the hole in the metal plate on the watch concave on the inside? The reason I am asking is that I did hear a click when I pushed in the jewel in the picture below.323c9c90e121556fa81c84952477739e.jpg55cbcff24d4789a9e2d7b80084564970.pngc0f609c7f89189f7ae075ee2c660fa6e.png

It might be worth having a close look at the jewel with a loupe to make sure that it has cracked or fractured. Unless the Chinese have completely thrown convention out of the window the hole into which the jewel is pressed should be parallel sided so as to allow the adjustment of end shake. The click you heard may just have been the jewel cracking if the hole wasn't quite big enough.

I had a look and it seems ok. I thought the walls were parallel! How do you measure the jewel diameter and then the hole diameter to ensure the hole is the right size for pushing in the jewel? I do have a micrometer for measuring the jewel but not sure how to size the hole and know if I need to ream it.
