Balance Spring Stud position

Just replaced balance spring on a size 18 pocket watch. I did however forget to check to see where the roller jewel was in relation to the balance spring stud on the old one.

I remember reading about this somewhere but just can't remember. Does it matter?  I have the whole movement apart while I'm cleaning it. So it would be a good time to find out.

Can someone  help ?

in the "rest" position of the balance wheel the impulse jewel has to be right in the middle of the pallet fork.

It does matter because in the wrong position it will be out of beat.
