Hi

I just received a balance assembly for my 7009A and I can't figure out how to safely remove it from the plastic package.

Anyone else had this problem?

My grandson suggested I burn it off - I won't take his advice.

We love burning things :) don't forget pictures and video of the resulting carnage. Methinks careful use of an xacto knife might be your best bet. Need some pictures to be of more help I'm afraid...

Does the packing have 4 holes at the corners? I seem to remember that I poked something in the holes to separate the two plastic layers.

Been a few years since I had a NOS Seiko balance wheel pass thru my hands!

does it look like these? gently pull apart top/bottom, if taped then cut with xacto first, not a problem for me, but hands were shakin' a bit ! :)  DSCF0268.JPG

Evil clamshell packages :)

I pried apart my first one successfully, but after inspecting the balance I tried to snap it back together and smooshed the balance. :(

Here's  a few options...

Drill a small hole and fill it with compressed air:startle:!!!

Wrap a rubber band around each part of the case to improve your grip??

Do you have any nutcrackers?

Good luck
