Vintage Rolex/panerai Homage

I've always liked the 1940's Rolex that were produced for Panerai. Of course Panerai builds the Radiomir today, but I prefer the California Dial of the ca. 1943 model. Coincidently, that watch was also 47mm x 47mm as is this one.

I also used this beautiful Hamilton 921 for the movement. I really like the simplicity of this design!

Excellent stuff - good to see these Hamiltons being put to good use.

One of my all-time favourite movement makers.

These movements are really growing in popularity with people doing conversions. Although, I'm not sure conversion is the right term anymore, since most all of thes movements are without a case because of gold scrap prices. Purists really get upset when these are taken out of their original cases and converted to wristwatches. But now it seems like a rescue mission by, at least, getting these wonderful movements back in service again!
