Okay all!

I feel like a taker and never a contributor on here since I don't have a great deal of knowledge to share. That said I am eternally grateful for all you that do and often share! (and I guess those of us that aren't contributing all the time are providing some service to learning)

Back to my question! I have an old Elgin Square gent's watch -movement from 1938 and need a crystal. My measurements from inside the bezel are 19.5 x 19.5. The only crystals I can find are CS 400 and CS 405 400 being 19.4 x 19.4 and 405 being 19.7 x 19.7 so my guess is the smaller of the two? Giving I am finding the correct crystal. this is the first time trying to purchase a crystal.

Thoughts or advice?

I think I heard from one of marks videos that an increase of .2 is acceptable as you will need to compress the crystal to install it. Amateur advice so please verify.

Yep measure then add .2 if its 19.5 the 19.4 will be loose but the 19.7 will snap in and friction fit nicely.

You have to measure from the outside of the lip as well. I did not do that the first time and now have a spare crystal.

@jdrichard

Not sure I understand the "outside of the lip" ? I am measuring from the inner diameter (inside the ledge) of the bezel ? Is that correct?

Thanks for the reply!
