problem with ETA movement

Recommended Posts

i purchased a used ETA 2879 movement by accident last week - i paid $12 bucks for it, so i'll still use it.

it's got a roamer rotor on it and when it arrived, the rotor was loose. so i tightened it up and upon doing so, the rotor will not move at all.

i've never had this happen before. also, the bearing is tight, so no problems there.

but, why would the rotor screw, when tightened, lock the rotor in place? i cannot tell what would make this situation.

I've had this before only a 2836 & found that the one of the screws holding down the automatic works was the wrong one & as such the head was hitting the rotor when it was tightened.
