okay with all the search possibilities available today:\

New York Watch company, 19j, 18S, mfg around 1866, mine has a Hampden dial literally screwed on front which I am proud to say I did not do, I have searched for cases, but was told by more knowledgeable person that the NY movements were not "standard" size 18 and probably would not fit in case without modification. You will note the s/n on awco site is 1022, and from the description, was sort of frankened together, mine is 293, near as I can tell is all original, certainly the pride of the fleet!

Mine are just babies in comparison but the first is my 1867 Elgin #1798 Grd 62 Culver, which is a first run

And the second is my 1867 #4280 Grd 69 B W Raymond, first year, but not first run.  There's a first run B W Raymond  #198 posted on the Google vintage watch site.  https://plus.google.com/communities/105032863651771032397 Amazing.

    • Totally Andy's brilliant idea. I just started the thread.  For what my opinion is worth, the number should be quite low. That's the point of it. It's as much about the hunt as the act of servicing/repairing the watches. I don't have too much of an opinion on currency, but £ has a slight edge since that's what it started with. This is a global forum, so the majority of people will be converting values no matter what. I don't know if there are any currency traders here, but if there's any currency that's especially stable or some other attribute that would benefit the game, that could be amusing. Maybe one that's super volatile? Qualification is heavily influenced by what wacky things some currency is doing on a given day (though usually that means shrinkage). We could go for something super obscure like the Chilean Peso or something just for giggles (though it might make conversion difficult). A lot of currencies are indexed to the US$, which would ease some of the conversion friction for some people. Just spitballing. My vote in the poll would be for £ inflation adjusted to £4.04 ca. 2020. I'm ticking those boxes, but I'm not sure about the 6.99. Is that £, or another currency? Source?
    • Looks like a genious design! 👍 What is your experience?
    • I am trying to rationalize what is going on with this eta 955.112.  It operates within the manufactures published specs for all tests, with the exception that when the stem is pulled out completely, the  internal IC consumption jumps to 75ua.   It should be < .5ua.  1st thought was faulty ground switch....  but hat did nothing.  Swapping the electronic module fixed the problem-   ruling out it being a grounding switch issue.    Do i Just a bad movement?  ot is there something else going on ?   cold solder joint at ground pin?    Has anybody seen this or want to take a stab at why
    • Definitely have a look around ebay for Arnex pocket watches. You'll find many that are still in their gift boxes, essentially new old stock Swiss movements for very low prices.
