Thanks for the explanation @JohnR725. I had seen images like this before, but they didn’t quite make sense. Now I get it. It’s good that I removed the jewels for cleaning, I think, since that probably hadn’t been done for a very long time. With that said, my oiling probably wasn’t effective. I can add a drop and use my oil balance staff to get it to bleed down. -
Thanks, The replacement seems pretty simple. Do I need to buy any special tools to remove and replace the hands? Also as far as the variations I need some help here. I measured the height and it was 6mm with the second hand on it. The 2 505 movements that are the tallest are 5.4mm and 5.3mm. I found a website that says that Luminox used a HQ505.6L movement that is 5.3mm. Cost $20. So do I need to buy any special tools to deal with the hands? -
I think the high street repair shop is unfortunately becoming a thing of the past. Edit Sorry about the drift off topis. -

If you find any will you post some pictures Andy, I love old watch shops. I found a fantastic one in Rome, an old guy eyeballing a repair to a pocket watch. -
As the topic shifted, I will ask another question: I will go to London soon, is there any interesting watch repair shop there?
