Another Seiko Saved

o.k., maybe i'm overstating. this seiko 6106 DX was bought on fleabay a while back. it arrived and sat uncerimoniously in it's very nasty, battered gold case. but, i knew it had a face worth revealing. the dial is a cross between maroon and root beer. lovely.

so, i purchased a case from fleabay, but when it arrived i realized it was missing it's bezel - an oversite on my part. a forum member on another site is supplying an NOS bezel for this watch. it will be here in a few weeks. it is a stainless bezel with a black insert. i'll post pictures when it arrives.

i love this one because it's a hacking movement. and also because it is so clean. i don't know the service record, but this watch is from sept.,1970 and it keeps very good time .anyway, here's my DX. apologies for the soft focus.

I do prefer the hidden lug cases.

Almost hit buy now myself on a similar one missing its bezel.

thank you, ro63rto. i actually have never been crazy about them until i got a couple of others. one of them is an aluminum case seiko. it was also hands down the nastiest watch i've ever bought. it had so much funk and whatever else on it, i almost didn't want to touch it. i cleaned up the case, made a strap for it, installed the movement and it ticks like a swis.....like a seiko. this thing is indestructible.

well, here's an update. i finally got the bezel from old blighty tonight. it's installed and looking right. it's quite a beauty.

i saw another on fleabay tonight. the owner is calling the dial maroon. it's not. it's a real deep root beer. sort of reminds me of a friend's 1969 mach 1. he bought it brand new. it was indian fire red. it's pretty close to that.
