Stud carrier so hard to move

Is it technique or confidence but the stud carrier arm on my Longines 370 is very difficult to move especially since I only want to nudge it. Should it require force just to move it slightly?

 Can you safely detach the balance complete from the cock?   Thats to keep the balance away in case of accident. 

1-  I usually seperate  the stud  & regulator arm , clean every surface involved in moving them.

2- You can just  put some oil on joints then keep moving the  arms ro  loosen rhem ,  clean in ultrasonic. 

 Either case, balance must be separated for safety .

Hi. I think Joes post covers the problem , it’s a case of dismantling the cock. And removing the regulator .
