Bergeon 5555/98 Pressure Tester

I have just got this pressure tester and in my mind I think I read somewhere you should use distilled water in it not tap water. Does anyone know if this is correct? Thanks

Yes, I've always use distilled water. I believed tap water will stain the chamber over time. Even though using distilled water, I'll not leave it in the chamber overnight. As water is corrosive to the metal parts.

don't see why not . i use rain water for my tropical fish water changes so i don't need to add any dechrorinating  chemicals , been doing it for years without any problems , so i would imagine it would be fine for a pressure tester , the only problem is there may be some silt or debris in it straight from the water butt , but that would be the only issue that i could see

I purchased mine in a 5 litre plastic can on eBay.  Same for my Acetone too.

From experience, using normal tap water, and distilled water, I was noticing the plunger.hanger corroding, so purchased a new one from cousins, and using deionised water, the corrosion has been stopped.

Micky, do you leave the deionised water in the chamber or empty it after the pressure test?

I leave the water in there, and the plunger end submerged.
