Aloha all ,

  I was at work Friday morning and I stopped in the convience store to get a cup of coffee .  The superintendent of the job

also came in to get some coffee ,....and being the WIS that I am , asked him what kind of watch he was wearing . I told him that I collected watches , and he said that a colleague of his also collected watches and gave him the Bulova he was wearing .

 He brought the fellow to meet me and he said He had an old chunky Omega in a drawer at home that he bought new 40 years ago and asked if I would be interested in it , .....you know my answer .  He brought in this Omega Speedmaster Mark II from around 1969 ,'70 .  Everything works as it should .

 

I picked it up for $200......

I was quite pleased when he showed it to me , and quite surprised when I got home and did some research .

  At first he suggested $100 , or maybe just give it to me ..... that was on Friday .  Today , Monday , he said after looking at it again , he'd like $200 maybe , but give him what I thought I should . I told him that he had offered it for $100 , now $200 , ....so would he accept $175 . He agreed and I went to an ATM to get the cash , then I thought to myself , "don't get greedy or nit-picky over $25 " , so I gave him the $200 . Which seemed to please him because I wasn't being cheap about the matter .

 

 

I forgot what the deep sea diver symbol inside the caseback meant . Compression case or Bovet ??  Can someone refresh my memory ?..... Thanks , Louis

It's not every day you pick up a $2000+ dollar watch for $200!

This Italian Made Red Leather watchband will do until I can locate an appropriate gold plated / filled Omega Strap . Maybe get an Omega gold buckle .
