Differnce between 2788 and 2789-1 2789?

Hello again. 

I have been lucky enough to obtain a MUDU watch, inspired by 'Gentlemen' (Thank you). It arrived and I secured the lose rotor and movement holder. Yes, that's all it needed, honest. However I wish to do the job correctly and do a full service.  I has a very good condition ETA 2788 movement.  Timegrapher - 176s,  226 degrees. 1.4ms. 52 degrees running at 21600.

I have been searching, without luck, for a 2788 pats and oiling sheet. I have the 2789, but my internet skills to not seem to be good enough. Can anyone help with a location of a download? 

I am pretty sure that I could do the service without, but preparation is the name of the game. 

Will keep you all posted with the service.

Toothache still raging. Feels like the electric silver paper shock. Only 10 or 12 times a day now. Dentist say it is a rampant nerve. 5 weeks for an appointment.

2788 Date.     2789 Day and Date.     2789-1 Day (2 languages) and Date.

You have given me the information I require. I have placed a notation of the ranfft in my favourites.

I am very conversant with the 2789 and 2789-1 so will easily be able to do the service.

The oiling is as every other watch 🤣.  If you need help, see : ETA_2836-2.Asembly and Lube.pdf

One problem I've had with the automatic ETA is the reverser wheels. If you don't lubricate them correctly, the winding can be VERY stiff (or they may just be worn). I always cleaned them and made my own mix of 1/30 9010/naphtha. But I've still had problems - the last watch was very stiff to wind. So I've finally bought some Lubeta V105 - fixed the stiff winding. It's not cheap but will last ages.

Done.

Had a 'ping' with seconds hand. Will redo when I find it. Crystal on order. Boxed up as I wanted to wear it.

-3s. 214 degrees Amplitude. BE 0.1 Happy Bunny.

Update on the Mudu

Finished the service on March 31st. Wore the watch. Decided to clean the case. Guess what? Found the seconds hand in the fold of my working box Wednesday 15 May. Phew!

Look at the difference that I can achieve. Wooho. Chuffed.

Chuffed for you too, the only thing I'm slightly surprised by is you didn't clean the case in the first place.  When the movement was out of the case, why not clean it then? 

Just questions, I really am happy for you.

Did the movement and put it in the case just to make sure I could do the service. Was not happy as I did not have the hand so did not need to finish. When I found the hand I removed it and cleaned the case. Next is the crystal. I'm still learning. 

I have received a set of sanding sticks so used them.

      In addition you will need a c to cs adapter which is just a 5mm ring to bring the camera at the right distance.    The camera I have is a Hayear camera I got from AliExpress. It does the job but I find the usage a bit clunky. But I don’t know if others are better

      I see. I understand, thank you. Though, I have access to 3D printing and the machine shop at my univeristy. Getting those parts should be fine. An example with the National. I can request the machine shop to turn the national spindle to support an Elma basket. I think its further possible for them to make an extension to support an Elma basket for the Brenray. I am just not sure which machine requires the most effort. I am trying to see the costs of restoration on each of them and then ultimately buy the one. I haven't seen a watch cleaning machine on the local market for years. A local watch part shop which sells the Janta/Pearl watch cleaning machines, a clone of the Elma Super Elite, is willing to order in from India, watch baskets, and such.  So I am not sure if I should let go of this opportunity. I am willing to rewire everything and update it to current safety standards.

      This is I believe Junhans only digital watch. I recently opened it to change the battery and was very surprised when the movement a small black rectangle just fell out. It appears it was just glued into case and the glue failed over time, it was some sort of white glue. How common is it to glue movements in?  Also what sort of adhesive should used to refix the movement? It seems to be a metal plastic interface, with glue needing gap filling properties.

      yes classic problem of American pocket watches but Americans are clever sometimes the cleverness is this just put the watch into the operating mode of out of the case by moving that. After all at one time the watches were sold separate from the cases and they had to run outside of the case so typically they would have a method of achieving that   would help to have the classic information like what was the watch doing when you received it? In other words was the watch running and now it's not or the watch wasn't running at all and you're trying to repair it? If you remove the pallet fork does the gear train spin? then it's really hard to tell from your picture we really need a better picture of this location as I really can't see the pallet jewels and I'm curious about the location of the banking pins. Unfortunately on American pocket watches that are adjustable and often times they are not in the right place. Occasionally they have enough adjusted so much they have a habit of moving all by themselves and that could be very bad.

      If that is the situation I wouldn't bother. There are members on here that have 3d printed baskets and some have replaced the heating element. I also know some have replaced all the wiring.
