Some recent project clocks I've cleaned and repaired

Recommended Posts

With a little guidance and direction from my father, I've been restoring clocks fairly regularly recently.  A few examples of recent work.  All finished, cleaned, repaired and ready for the customers to collect.  Along side these, my other passion is watches.  Same principle but on a different scale 🙂

You have been busy. Do you get any antique English or French clocks in for repair. How about making parts can you do that.

Just depends what comes in really, have not had any recently.  The wall clock in the first picture needed a new suspension leader as it was missing, so had to fabricate one of those.  The american factory clock in the 3rd picture has lantern pinions ( I think that's the correct name), many of which were broken or worn.  Had to repin plenty of those with blue steel.  Other than that, have had no need to make any parts as yet.  I started out many years ago as a precision engineer so familiar with manufacturing techniques, I specialised as a CNC machine tool programmer/setter.  Fettling this stuff by hand is a little different though 🙂
