Just finished rewiring my L&R Master. I'm saving money for some tools so I did this as a cheap project.

Glad I did as it was considerably worse off then I thought it was. Time has not been kind to it. Sadly I only started taking pictures after I started in. Initially it was just put a new power cord on it and call it good but that turned into a total redo.

I took the liberty of making a wiring diagram for it.... no guarantees its factory correct some 75 years have passed since this was new and various people have hacked on mine in the past... but it's how mine was wired. I put it back how I found it and it seems to work fine. I used UK/European colours in wiring for a device that I don't think was ever sold in a 220v country but blue/brown gave me way more contrast then black/white on a white background.

Only thing I didn't do was replace the last piece of wire before the motor, mine was still serviceable and the risk of breaking the motor to replace the wires was too great for me. I just joined the wired in the tube for that. Not ideal but it should work fine. Glad I rewired it. I oiled the bearings top and bottom and the old wiring was a fire waiting to happen. Ended up using bolted connections for a few things. I used 14ga for main power feed and most internal wiring. 16ga to the motor like it was. Had to make a few executive calls as to what side was hot and what was neutral since in the old days of 2 wire plugs it could have been either.IMG_0960.thumb.JPG.5aa7695fa2c37c81d08d9c721919379c.JPGIMG_0961.thumb.JPG.d7798f3384d9517f93ad6b776c3cc8b6.JPGIMG_0982.thumb.JPG.7bc47f70c4e8ccaa6ea972be11334560.JPGIMG_0982.thumb.JPG.7bc47f70c4e8ccaa6ea972be11334560.JPGIMG_0984.thumb.JPG.76707511e475633231789d758ca59a93.JPGLRMaster.thumb.png.13c34ad5b814093190cf6aa7c5993071.pngIMG_0960.thumb.JPG.5aa7695fa2c37c81d08d9c721919379c.JPGIMG_0961.thumb.JPG.d7798f3384d9517f93ad6b776c3cc8b6.JPG

I had a hard time finding any good wiring diagrams so hopefully this helps someone else!

Sorry the pictures are all jumbled this forum software is not terribly friendly in that regard.
