Hello all,

I'm a hobby horologist and have just gotten hold of a Seamaster with a 1342 in it....not working.....(sound familiar?)....a new battery didnt change things...just made thecsecond hand to mobe a little then stop. so I'm here joined to see if I can get any info as to how to move forward....any hints or tips would be gratefully received...

If you had a Witchi Cyclonic you could possibly spin the train and free it up but sounds like it could use a cleaning/service.....you did say it ran for a few seconds....

Hi a line release tool (available on eBay or the cheap £30 alalyser). Will spin  up the watch and clear a jam or sticky oil. First put a drop ofnaptha ( lighter fuel) on the pivots then tun up the watch, re fit new battery if it runs you know the movement is ok but it will require servicing. If still dead check circuit for pulses and the coil resistance and for being open. Circuit.
