Recuperating A Raymond Weil Chronometer

Some of you may have seen this ETA 2893-2 movement and dial on eBay for less than one third of the price of an ETA 2892-2 movement.

I bought it intending to remove the dial and 24-hour layer so as to recuperate the ETA 2892-2 movement for another use. However, once in my hands the attraction of keeping the full works became irresistible. The case ring was greatly reduced in size and I obtained a suitable case from Etsy. After adding a slightly deeper back and a Sternkreuz HH high domed crystal, I now have a smart, not-too-large, chronometer for my narrow wrist.

And one day, not having the optional universal time ring, I shall fully understand how to read the second time zone!
