1970 Timex Marlin Date Ring Installation

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. I am trying to restore a few of my father's old Timex watches. When I separated the dial from the movement the date ring fell out before I had a chance to see how it was installed.  I see the click on the left side of the movement, but cannot figure out how the date ring attaches on the right side. Any help with correctly installing this ring would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Just press the ring to the right and have it sit on the posts.  There are 4 in total.  You may want to add lube to each post and the tip of the detent spring as well.  I also see you removed the dial by the four tabs .  I do not recommend this since those tabs are very thin and likely to break.  Instead you should bend back the three silver tabs that attached the dial retention ring to the top plate.
