Odd Mainspring barrel problem

Recommended Posts

Hi guys recently taking apart an old Services watch (5 jewels, shockproof) and had some trouble with the barrel.

It has an attached wheel fixed to it, and while removing the mainspring spring and arbor I slipped the cog off the part it was attached to and now it is free floating.

Obviously this is less than ideal, but is it salvageable and if so how do I get the cog back to where it was meant to be?

(as per the third image, the large silver cog was originally attached flush to the top small cog)

Kind regards,

Will
