Seeking Omega And Olympic Information

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Thursday a guy a work brought me this Omega and asked what information I could find out about it. His story is he bought it recently at an estate sale of a former Olympic contestant (javelin). He says that he was told some contestants were given watches for their participation. The watch is an Omega pocket watch with Paul Caron also on the dial. Would the Paul Caron be the actual contestant or just the jeweler who sold the watch? I can find a lot of information about Omega and timekeeping in the Olympics but nothing on this subject.

I haven't checked any numbers off the watch to see if the time period is right but you can see that it was carried a lot. It will run and starts up after a few winds.

That watch must be older than the box? The box is from 1968 if it has something to do with the olympic in Mexico 1968 . The black power olympic .The watch that would fit that box would be a chronostop?

The watch and box don't belong to one another, most likely the box was for an Omega Chronostop or similar wristwatch, maybe even stopwatch.

Paul Caron is likely the jeweller from where it was sold originally, i think the name/jeweller is French in origin but can't say for 100% certainty.

I have just checked the numbers and if the site is accurate the watch was made in 1917? I did find some information about the chronostop in connection with the '68 Olympics however nothing about them being given out to contestants.
