Waltham 1883 18S Roller Pin Jewel

Hi everyone, does anyone know where I might be able to source a roller pin jewel for a Waltham 1883 pocket watch at a reasonable cost? Thanks in advance.

what kind of price range are talking about for a reasonable cost?

then there is the classic problem of things like roller jewels in the Waltham parts catalog for your watch is 1496 is the part number. but typically for American pocket watches for the roller jewel you would go by the size and in this case is a single roller so it would be a longer jewel. So would you know the size of your roller jewel?

Looking to pay around £5 as the watch is to be sold on. I managed to break the roller jewel so the length will be difficult to quantify. The stub is left in the table so should be measurable. I will be looking at an overall loss on the project anyway but have gained some valuable experience along the way (adjusting the pallet jewel depth, lock and guard pin clearance). I managed to improve the amplitude DU/DD from 160 to 240 degrees before my clumsiness broke the jewel.

I hope when you are doing all of that that you also check the banking pins. Usually I find people don't play with the guard pin but people definitely love to move the banking pins because they are movable and of course things that movable easily movable should be definitely moved. then the even easier to adjust on a full plate watch because there they are in plain sight you can move them. As opposed to when they're on the dial side you have to dial off to adjust them on a regular watch. You definitely want your banking pins where there supposed to be before you do anything else.

Oh and if you're using a timing machine remember the lift angle is probably not 52°. 18 size pocket watches can have quite a variation what the lift angle could be.

then it's good that you can measure it because otherwise you need a usually a special tool to measure the slot and the fork to figure out size you need. Then as far as the length goes they typically come in short which is everything with a double roller and the  single roller table there long which makes them harder to find.
