UT 231a movement? No hits on google! Anybody know anything about this?

My mom gave me this really cheap costum jewelry watch she got for a few bucks at a thrift store that's having issues. I expected it to have some chinese junk movement in it just based on how it was made and finally got the movement out and here it is.



Can anybody tell me anything about it? If i search it i get unitas 231 but that is definitely not this. Finishing looks subpar but not nonexistent. Anybody got any ideas what i'm looking at?

I checked dr ranfft. It's a Universal Time 231A.

Interesting. Seiko makes it's way to me again. Had never heard of  this branding. So is there a seiko equivalent I wonder that IS branded?

Side note: This finally got me to pull out my grandfathers old watch i inherited and open it up to see what's in it. What a pretty movement! Eta 2451 in immaculate condition.

Unitas 231 is a 18"' pocket watch movement,

Yeah i specifically said it's not. Just that was all that came up when i searched for UT 231a
