Ordered two of the movements needed for the course today !

One to use and a spare one for the occasional hamfisted moments !

Found a vendor in Germany who is selling them for a few Euro more then the Chinese outlets.

For Europeans, that avoids 'trouble' with Customs and much shorter delivery times

Hey Paddy, welcome aboard and good luck with the first stripdown and reassembly.

Just for your reference, you may want to search through this forum for threads relating to Seagull incabloc shock spring replacement. FYI, they are not hinged like the high-class ETA movement, and will want to fall out the back of the setting. Just to save you the inevitable horror.

I had one spring leave from the back of an Incabloc also. All ended well, but placing it back was quite an annoyance.

John,

I have done plenty of stripdowns and reassemblies, but not on this type of Chinese movement...so we'll see what nasty surprises it has in store.

Sound like you are saying that the springs proper are missing the hinge parts.... would it be possible to replace them with ETA equivalents that have the hinge part? Or would those just not fit?

Would not fit, Chinese watches have parts that may be similar to the original, but then different enough to prevent complete interchangeability.

Movements arrived today...well packaged,

Included were a dial washer some case clamps and what seems to be an extra wheel....

They seem to work, so that is progress after a fashion!

Wonder what the extra wheel is about though....

I will, as soon as I can find something to take pictures with ....

(please do note , I am the worse photographer in the EU and surrounding small villages !) My phone has a camera, but I'd need to put in a micro SD card, in order to be able to take a picture...one of my sons will be around one of these days, and they all have these snazzy new phones, with cameras that surpass anything you could buy have even a few years ago...)

The extra wheel is likely to be the hour wheel, which is normally not fitted on movements sold by themselves; they are supplied together with the movement in a small bag. This is because the hour wheel is kept in place by the dial, and without the dial, is likely to fall off.

Seems to be that way yes.... neatly packaged though

Didn't really know what to expect , I guess

Gave it a wind and it keeps on "keeping on", but I haven't put it on the timegrapher yet.

Might do that over the weekend ..

Thanks for your reply !!
