I am restoring a Timex Exp and am replacing the crystal.

I have removed it and it measures 1.62mm thick.  My easy options are 1.5mm and 1.8mm from Esslinger.  I found a 1.6mm crystal that I can buy from China.  I have also looked at Ottofrei Julesborel, and Cousins.

Looks like I need to just install a 1.8mm crystal and let it sit a little high.

Thoughts???

--BTW I read an old thread here on a similar Timex topic, but did not find a good answer.

Some people likes proud crystals, maybe because much desired watches have one from factory. If you look closely crystals may have a minimal bevel that could look better to face up. Other that that, 1.5 and 1.6m makes no difference, you could could install the first to be perfectly flush and there it will stay.

High dome crystals are normally for watches that have a sweep seconds hand. If it has that then you will need a high dome.

No, it is a flat crystal.  It has a bevel as @jdmnoted.

Update...I went with the proud crystal: 1.8mm.  Arrived today.  It looks great.  But, I am worried...pride goes before destruction and haughty spirit before a fall...
