Could you measure again Mike? That's 3mm difference from "normal", and you have been off 3mm in measurement before...

 

Otherwise, your key does look a little wide. If you disassemble the headstock it will probably be evident if it has been replaced at some time. They are a real bear to replace, so if it actually is in its original location and is simply a bit too wide the easiest, if fiddly, thing to do is reach in the spindle with a fine file and reduce the key's width.

Thanks all,

It did appear that the Key was a little too wide. I ordered another Needle File and have managed to take a little off the width of the Key and now all the Collets seem to fit nicely

When this ocuors - all too often - I use a triangular section needle file (number 8) and thin the key. The latest Horia (Peerless) lathe, strictlly 8mm, needs this adjustment to allow the use of most of my 8mm Wolf Jahn collets.
