At the start of the pandemic, I started restoring more clocks than watches. So I started accumulating more clock tools. One of the tools on my list was a clock pivot positioning tool. I remembered seeing something similar to the tool I see in Cousins catalog in a Japanese $2 store. It was a tool for removing fishing hooks from the mouth of fish. I visit the store weekly but it was never in stock.

Last week I placed an order for it from Cousins and it arrived on Tuesday. Yesterday I went to the $2 store again and I couldn't believe what I saw.... a rack full of the fish hook remover tool. ?

The pivot positioner is the one on the right. The 1 on the left is the fish hook remover.

One of the first projects I made was to make one of those tools, I used it a couple of times and then as Oldhippy says went back to using an old pair of tweezers.

I admit that I use tweezers most of the time too. But some clock movements are so large that when I reach all the way in, I don't have enough force to grip the arbors. Maybe I should get a longer pair of tweezers.

I have one of the Cousins versions and actually find it a very useful tool - that said, the pliers also work - it's what you're used to I guess.
