Hello guys,

I have a mido commander using a eta 2834-2. When removing the stem, I think I've pressed the button a little to hard and it's totally disappeared. Not sure if it's broke or just moved somewhere inside the movement.

The stem won't engage. Any advice on how this can be repaired without completely tearing down the watch?

Proper approach is to remove the day and date ring to gain good access to the set lever and set spring which keeps nearly all the keyless put, there will be a minute train bridge to remove or loosen as well.

Take couple pictures as you go so you know where parts came from and to be put back to.

Hi  Follow Joe's advice , you have displaced the keyless work. When removing the stem , pull the stem out to the set position before releasing the stem. This keeps all the keyless work in place under tension and in line ready to receive the stem when replaced.

From your photo, I  think you have pressed the setting lever too deep and displaced it.

Mark has a video on YouTube showing how to recover from this problem. This is a common problem with the 2834.

For future work on eta movements, if you examine the hole the release  botton is in, you notice the following;

The oval hole the stem release button is in, bottoms at a recess in center of which the circular hole is and continues deeper,  so if you insert a screwdriver of the widest blade the larger diameter of oval allows, your blade will plunge only as deep as the recess which is all thats needed for a perfect stem release.

I hope you can understand my ingliski.  ?
