Starting Seiko 6309-523A Mini Tidy Up

Finally my eyes are able to focus close up!

Going to start with the easy bit first [emoji9]

The hands look aweful. Supposed to be white with lume.

Off with the hands.

Into some Acetone they go.

Almost clean.

Once completely clean, going to use matt white Humbrol enamel. Then for the lume, experimenting with some clear nail varnish and extra fine glomania green lume powder. I gave it a two minute charge with my 300 lumen LED torch at 11pm last night. This morning at 7.30 it was still visible [emoji106] . Pic taken after a 20 sec blast.

More will follow. Just warming up the Humbrol so it mixes easier.

To apply it....... old mini flatblade screwdriver or pegwood?

Hi Ro63rto,

 

I've never used glomania. I use an oiler but I believe a small tipped anything will do for this kind of "painting". I'm interested in the final result.

I meant what to say what do i use to apply the enamel paint?

Bloomin' paint is far to thick. Need to buy some thinner and some micro brushes.

Trip to a hobby shop tomorrow.

Tried nail varnish in the past but dries far too quick. You may have to bite the bullet & buy the Bergeon lacquer + its cheaper than the nail varnish the boss uses.

OK, I have sand paper, a dremel, a hair drier, a spray paint can and some Crayola....would all that work...I can use my ceiling fan to hang the dials too! :)

 

Of course all that can be upgraded when I win the Florida LOTO! :woohoo-jumping-smiley-emoticon:

Can it really be THAT long ago that I started this???

Better pull my finger out then.

Got a choice of lume powder.

Left - GloMania Blue. Glows bright but dims after 10 mins. Lasts 10hrs.

Middle - GloMania Green. Same as above.

Right - WatchLume Green. Glows very bright, dims after 10 mins BUT in my test with just my Galaxy S3 light charging it for 2 mins it lasts for 24hrs.

Hopefully I will find the willpower to get off my duff and finish what I started as there are two others fighting for my attention.

Think I need more practice at painting objects that are 9mm long [emoji4]

Time to let them dry then on to the lume. I'll stay with green.

Oh well.

That's that for now. The Humbrol lacquer I bought is brownish in colour. Ok if I'm trying to match aged lume but not what I need right now.

What can I get thats cheap and easy to get hold of?

Tried the clear nail varnish.

Wonder if I could use thinners to delay drying time a tad?
