Cat D2 rebuild

Recommended Posts

I'm loving this, lots of episodes, clear shooting by a very competent mechanic. He's extra careful so that nothing is damaged - ask me how do I know that's important!

The machine in itself is also fantastic, it just looks "right" under all aspects. And the he can still order parts for it at the dealer!

D2 highly sought after machine in the US.  Probably elsewhere too.  Nice small tractor for play and stump pulling.

I grew up around D8 14A2180.  I remember the serial after all these years!  Dad dropped my 1899 Waltham on the tread plate and broke the balance.  Took 30 years for me to get it rebuilt.

Actually, he dropped the Waltham on the floor of a D7 as I now recall.  Got it fixed and dropped it again around 1957.  That time he placed it it a drawer and got a Milber.  Kinda rough, but I have it also.

Probably was about '57 that he got the 14A.  Had twin stacks.  Hell of a machine.  You could hear it run 2 miles away.
