Hi Gary the spring should fit into the groove on the castle wheel so that when you pull the crown out the castle wheel slides up and down the stem to engage the ratchet wheel for winding and the hand setting..

Does this help...

Please excuse the fibres and other grubbiness, I have just grabbed this from the spares bin (needs new balance wheel and pallet) to illustrate the set up. You appear to be missing the set lever on yours.

That's it sorted.  does any one know of a source of smiths/ingersol  watch and clock technical data there seems to be no readily available information.  the watches were build in Wales by the Anglo-celtic Co Ltd

Sorry for resurrecting this post,  but I'm having trouble with one of these - the lever pops out of the clutch every time I try to install the stem (works with the dial off, but event the slightest movement when I try to do it assembled, it pops back out)

Any tips?
