Virus Warning

Recommended Posts

Got this heads up from a friend who warned of a potential virus.

He checked with Norton Anti-Virus, and they are gearing up for this virus!

He checked Snopes , and it is for real. If you get an email

entitled POSTCARD FROM HALLMARK , regardless of who sent it to you.It is a virus which opens A POSTCARD IMAGE, which 'burns' the whole hard disc C of your computer.

This virus will be received from someone who has your e -mail address in his/her contact list.

It has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever.

This virus was discovered by McAfee yesterday, and there is no repair yet for this kind of Virus.

This virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where the vital information is kept.

Ah, don't be sorry, Clockboy - these virus hoaxes are always going the rounds, and if you haven't come across them before, they can sound real and threatening. If ever you get a message about one passed on - by a friend, say - just do a good Google search. This usually sorts out real threats from fake ones.

In the meantime, I've just had this email from a chappie in Nigeria who's promised me a million quid to help him transfer some money from an account in his country. I'll just get me bank details for him...  :D
