Elgin 3/0 Movement Runs Fast

Recommended Posts

Hello still new here and learning a lot. Taking Mark's courses and reading a lot of books. Ok so I purchased a few Elgin 3/0 movements to practice on. So after a strip and clean and oil. The movement runs about 10 minuets fast in 12 hours? I checked the hairspring, it's between the regulator pins, no coils are touching? The balacnce staff is true. I demagnetized a few times. Still the same result. Any advice or suggestions?

Thanks

How do you test that you have demagnetised correctly.

Vinn, I know how to do it I’ve got an Elma antimag but I think a lot of people think they have demagnetised a watch but haven’t, just asking really if they test it with a compass afterwards, I bet most people don’t have a compass.

yes you need a compass (very small ) or something to indicate a magnetic  field.  vin
