My latest clock..

I recently bought this cuckoo clock in a broken and sorry state, bottom leaf centre was broken off case was tatty and worn looking dial was very rough, so i stripped it down to find movement jammed with chains full of fluff, hair and years of dust, i then took movement apart and cleaned all by hand before reassembling and re oiling, old hands had square hole so couldn't really adjust as such so would cuckoo too late almost 5 mins late so bought new hands and opened smallest ones hole out to push fit tight on the shaft and then made a washer to go over square hole then long hand put on after enlarging hole slightly then tightened nut turned hands until cuckoo went off then loosened nut moved hand to dead on 12 position and re tightened so now goes dead on the hour and half hour.

Anyway after some hours and patience got case sanded down restained and got all back together also renewing to bellow tops with new paper which i saw done on youtube video and thought i can do that, anyway here it is all working and keeping great time almost to the second after a lot of trial and error adjusting pendulum leaf to correct position on stick, i also made a new pendulum stick out of some

hardwood i had laying around, just going to add 2 new chains when get round to it as existing ones very worn stretched and opening links...

Im not sure why, but when it cuckoo's the bird the door and the wire the birds on move in and out slightly ? I have a black forest more modern one too with a Regula movement and that bird is dead still apart from the wire on bellow top lifting the bird back and forth making beak open and close.

That's a fine repair. Cuckoo clocks can be troublesome. The action you are talking about, a tiny drop of grease where the wires rub can stop that. It is most important when taking these movements apart not to bend any of the wires.

Thanks for reply..
